Correspondence to Alma Mahler, 1935-1949.

Aside from 1 letter of 1935 from Ernst Starhemberg, the letters from Nora Starhemberg are written after the Starhembergs had left Austria, tracking the course of Nora's residences in exile: first Cap Antibes, France; then Argentina (Mar del Plata and La Lumbre); and finally Vina del Mar, Chile. The letters are filled with personal reflections. She describes her current life and surroundings, her contacts with her husband Ernst, and her concerns for her son, whom she calls Heini or Heinli. In a letter of Nov. 1941 she reflects at length on news she has heard about her and Alma's mutual friend Johannes Hollnsteiner. Erich Cyhlar is also mentioned, as well as a friend Fritz, who had arranged for her to come to South America, and his wife Herta. In the last letter, written from Vina del Mar and dated Aug. 1945, she talks at length about an opportunity she had to act in a French film being made in Chile, which was just coming out after a long delay ("Le Moulin des Andes").
